I am a Mexican-Canadian photo- and video-based artist, an arts educator, and an Expressive Arts Therapist in training. I hold an MFA in Visual Arts from York University in Toronto and a BFA in Visual Arts from the National School of Plastic Arts (ENAP-UNAM) in Mexico. Since 1996, my work has been exhibited and published in various countries in the Americas, Japan, Hong Kong, and Europe. I have taught photography at several institutions, including the University of Morelos (UAEM) in Mexico, York University, and OCAD University in Toronto. My work belongs to several public and private collections, including the Center of the Image in Mexico City, the Museum of Photographic Arts in Kiyosato, Japan, the Canada Council Art Bank, the Getty Foundation in LA, and the Mackenzie Art Gallery in Canada. My work has been awarded and extensively supported by FONCA-CONACULTA Mexico, the Ontario Arts Council, the Toronto Arts Council, and the Canada Council for the Arts, for which I am deeply grateful. Most of my work has been developed through art residencies such as The Banff Centre in Alberta, La Chambre Blanche in Quebec, ACE Foundation in Buenos Aires, Materia Gris in La Paz, Bolivia, and Unpack Studio in Havana. I currently live between Mexico City and Toronto.
